BARNTON Pentecostal Church is hosting a fun day on Thursday, August 6, to support a charity which raises awareness of the dangers of legal highs.

The event is supporting Evolve, a Wirral-based, not-for-profit organisation which covers the whole of the UK.

It works with young people and adults, providing preventative education, early intervention, counselling, family support and training for professionals in relation to the abuse of legal highs, especially volatile substances.

The service aims to prevent or reduce such abuse by young people and adults by encouraging a healthy lifestyle and increasing their life skills with the provision of effective preventative education.

The fundraiser at the church takes place between 11.30am and 3pm, and features a range of events including gingerbread men decorating, penalty shootouts and a bouncy castle.

The event is being run by young people involved in the National Citizen Service, which offers teenagers aged between 15 and 17 the chance to take on new challenges, learn new skills and meet new people.

Admission to the event is free for under-18s, and 50p for those over 18. Barnton Pentecostal Church is in Blackcroft Avenue, Barnton.
