CINEMA fans can experience their favourite films in the woods this summer.

Chester Performs has announced that its season of outdoor cinema, Moonlight Flicks, will tour across Cheshire this year, including to Marbury Park, in Northwich.

There will also be screenings in the Roman Garden, in Chester, Castle Park, in Frodsham, and Stanney Fields, in Neston.

The season, which runs until August 29, will feature 51 screenings of 10 films, with a show on five evenings a week.

Audiences are invited to bring their deckchairs, picnics and plenty of layers to keep warm once the sun goes down.

The line-up of films to be shown at Marbury Park includes Drive, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Innocents.

Drive will be shown on July 23, Grand Budapest Hotel on August 6 and The Innocents on August 20.

Other films to be shown across the county include Paddington, The Wizard of Oz, Withnail and I, The Big Lebowski, Some Like It Hot, Roman Holiday and Mamma Mia.

Andrew Bentley, chief executive of Chester Performs, said: "We are delighted with this year’s programme, and its great to be linking with partners across the borough."

Last year more than 5,000 tickets were sold for the season, with the festival becoming a mainstay in the region’s growing cultural calendar.

As in previous years the film’s audio will be streamed through headphones to ensure maximum sound quality.

Chester Performs secured funding from the British Film Institute’s ‘Film Hub North West Central’, which aims to bring independent and British films to audiences across the north west.

Tickets are priced from £8.50.
