PLANS to extend a traveller site in Davenham are expected to be approved on Tuesday.
The proposal for two extra caravan pitches with toilets and hardstanding at Oakland Park, in London Road, is set to be discussed by Cheshire West and Chester Council's (CWAC) planning committee.
Cllr Helen Weltman, ward councillor for Davenham and Moulton, has asked for it to be discussed by the committee on the grounds that the proposal was an over development of the site and that there was a history of contraventions and retrospective applications on the land.
But CWAC officers have recommended that councillors should approve the plans.
Their report to the planning committee states: "Although the proposal would result in an increase in the number of pitches at the site from six to eight, the site is large and well screened, and could easily accommodate the additional pitches without significant harm to the character and appearance of the area.
"Furthermore given the constraints of the site it is unlikely the site can accommodate any further pitches in the future."
It adds that there is a pressing need for additional traveller pitches in west Cheshire and that the development is in accordance with planning policies.
