A NEW rose queen has been crowned in Whitley.
The annual Whitley Rose Queen Fete took place on Saturday, complete with a procession, crowning of the new queen, performances from Whitley Village School, a fancy dress parade, circus skills, pig race and tug of war.
Amelia Thompson was crowned queen, flanked by her retinue which included Megan Hood as chief attendant, Olivia Oldroyd and Mirabelle Morris as small attendants, Joseph Williams as crown bearer and Xander Cooper and William Moore as train bearers.
Heather Moore, from the fete committee, said: "It went really well and the weather was OK in the end – we were all very relieved."
Visitors also enjoyed a Stockley Farm tent, variety of stalls, a barbecue, bar, cream teas, raffle and tombola.
