MUSICIANS are tuning up for a summer event of pop in the park.

A range of acts are lined up for this year's Verdin Park Music Festival, which takes place from 2pm and 10pm on Saturday, June 20.

The free event, organised by Northwich Town Council, is now in its third year and set to feature a range of styles from performers, from reggae to swing and Elvis to Robbie Williams.

Organiser Cllr Alison Gerrard said: "We've got quite a good mix this year.

"It'd be good to see familiar faces come back that have been for the past few years and some new faces too, bearing in mind it's a completely free event.

"Bring a picnic and deckchair and hopefully the sun will shine and we'll all have a good time again."

The headline act for the event is Mike Andrews, a Robbie Williams tribute act, who will perform swing classics from 7.30pm and Robbie's hits from 9pm to 10pm.

From 8pm to 9pm Northwich woman Rebecca Holland, a finalist at Northwich X Factor, will perform after impressing organisers at last summer's event.

Cllr Gerrard said: "Last year she came on the day and said 'is there any chance I can do a couple of songs?' and she's on for an hour this year.

"She did impress us, she did 'At Last', which is one of my favourites."

Other acts throughout the event include Purpletones, Golty Farabeau and more.
