PLANS for 70 homes in Davenham have been refused.

Planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) have rejected the proposal for the land, off Green Lane.

The decision notice states: "Development of this greenfield land for residential purposes, extending beyond the established settlement boundary of Davenham onto designated countryside, and in a manner which significantly extends the built form of the village towards the A556, and eroding the environmental buffer and intrinsic value of the countryside provided by the absence of built development on the fields, fails to safeguard the character and individuality of the Davenham settlement.

"The development fails to minimise the loss of greenfield land, given the availability of other development opportunities in Northwich."

This site, put forward by Strategic land Group, was next to another site proposed for 52 homes by Bovis Homes.

This was also refused by councillors from CWAC's planning committee earlier this month.
