BUILDING is expected to start on a new housing estate in Moulton in August.

Bovis Homes has asked Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) if a number of planning conditions can be discharged and hopes to start work on site by August 12.

Members of Moulton Parish Council have met with representatives of Bovis to discuss progress on the land, off Barnside Way and Beehive Lane, where up to 148 houses are planned.

Cllr Allan Aston, parish council chairman, reported back at the the latest parish council meeting.

He said all ground and archaeological investigations are complete and Bovis has applied to Natural England for a licence to remove newts.

Two extra trees in Beehive Lane need their canopies raising to allow construction traffic through and a 6ft timber fence will be put up around the site boundary for health and safety reasons.

Cllr Aston said Bovis will strengthen Beehive Lane from the development end to the junction with Jack Lane and outlined Bovis' construction traffic plan (CTP).

"Construction Traffic Plan (CTP) submitted to CWAC shows access to site initially – hopefully for no longer than four weeks – will be via Barnside Way," he said.

"Traffic will not leave via Barnside Way, but along Beehive Lane, effectively a one way system, this will minimise traffic and mud on the highway.

"Once the CTP is approved residents of Main Road, Summerfield Drive, Harvest Close and Barnside Way will be advised.

"The annoyance factor is acknowledged, but every effort will be made to ensure that this phase is as short as possible."

Beehive Lane will be constantly manned to make sure access is managed.

Two show homes will be built first, along with a sales office, car park and main artery road for the new estate.

Drainage swales will also be built at this point.

Bovis homes to have a small number of properties for sale by the end of this year.

The developer has agreed to have monthly meetings with parish councillors and community representatives to tackle any ongoing issues or concerns.
