PRIMARY school pupil Wilf Morlidge played the role of Winston Churchill to open VE Day celebrations.
Wilf is a year six pupil at Barnton Community Primary School, and started proceedings by delivering Churchill’s VE Day speech.
“It was received with plenty of cheering and flag waving, jitterbug dancing, a sing-song of wartime songs and a grand finale of the red arrow formation.
“A dance performed by our year 3/4 pupils followed. A truly great time, reflecting the spirit of 1945, was had by children, staff and parents.”
