ANNIVERSARY celebrations at Cransley School will have a special meaning for Faye Aspinall and her husband David.

The school has received numerous stories and photographs from former pupils for its 80th birthday festival, which takes place at the school on Saturday, June 6.

Among them is the story of Faye and David, who attended the school in 1989 and were in the same class.

Twenty-five years later they married at St Mary’s Church in Whitegate on May 24, 2014, and as a wedding gift David’s parents, Marcus and Maureen Aspinall, had a memory box made bearing the couple’s initials and including Cransley School hats.

Faye and David attended the school’s first reunion for former pupils last year, and this year’s reunion is being held alongside the 80th anniversary celebrations.

On the day pupils will be create displays and dress up in fashions from each of the decades in Cransley’s history.

The free event runs from 1pm to 4pm, and will include a birthday cake competition, Morris dancing, an open air drama performance and a barbecue.

There will be cream teas, a beer tent, treasure hunt, worm charming, welly wanging, a splat the teacher challenge, bouncy castle, penalty shoot out, disco, raffle and stalls.

Stories from Cransley’s past will be shared on the day by numerous former pupils who expected to attend the free celebrations.
