MICKY Higham says an opportunity to join Leigh Centurions was “too good to turn down”.
The 34-year-old hooker left Warrington Wolves yesterday, Wednesday, in a £50,000 move to the Championship-topping club.
Higham’s Warrington contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but he has penned a deal at Centurions until November 2016 with an option of a further year at the club’s discretion.
The former Great Britain and England international, who began his career at Leigh before spells at St Helens and Wigan, last night tweeted his thanks to the Wolves fans.
Higham, who spent seven years at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, posted on his Twitter account: “Today I left Warrington with a heavy heart, but as everyone knows a rugby career is very short, the opportunity at Leigh in terms of my family's future was too good to turn down.
“I'd like to thank all the good people at the Wolves and Tony for letting me go, and of course all the Warrington fans for making my years at the club so special.”
He added: “But looking forward to this next as exciting chapter in my career @LeighCenturions.
“Thanks for all the messages, means a lot.”
