TWO fire appliances from Wellington and the Highways Agency were sent to deal with a car fire on the M5 near Chelston this morning (May 19).
Crews were called to the incident at 8.12am on the M5 Southbound between Junction 26 and 27 and found a small fire within the engine compartment of a four by four vehicle.
The engine compartment was severely damaged by fire. Fire crews extinguished the vehicle using two breathing apparatus wearers and one hose reel jet. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
