AFTER 28 years of representing Hartford as a councillor, Keith Musgrave has decided to call it a day.

Keith, 82, represented Hartford on the Vale Royal Borough Council for 23 years before continuing to represent the village for a further five years on Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Keith said his greatest moment was being made mayor of Vale Royal Borough Council in 1998 but regrets not being able to do anything about the influx of new homes being built in Hartford.

Keith said: “I have done 28 years as a councillor and I am 82 now and not quite as mobile as I was.

“I will miss it in some respects because I won’t have the ability to do something for the people community. People might have a problem but I can’t help them now because I’m not a councillor.

“The new houses in Hartford were something that I am sorry I couldn’t do anything about but I think the village is a good village and I think I have made some contribution to it.

“The high point was being made mayor in 1998/99. It was very exhausting and I must say it’s not something I would do twice but it was a great honour.

“I’m very grateful to my wife Mabel during my time as mayor and councillor because it is very time consuming. You don’t do it for the money you do it to try and bring something better to the area you live in and I feel in 28 years I have done my bit.”
