MOTORBIKE fan Stephen Lamb has expressed his delight at the success of an “absolutely superb” classic bike and car show at Lostock Gralam.

The event at The Slow and Easy Hotel in Manchester Road attracted about 80 motorbikes, cars and scooters, including four bikes owned by Stephen and his wife Sue.

Stephen and Sue come from Rudheath, and the Slow and Easy is their local.

The show was held on Sunday, May 3, and raised about £300 towards the third annual Bike’n’Bands event the couple are planning to hold at the hotel.

The first two events supported Macmillan Cancer Support and the Air Ambulance, and this summer’s event, due to take place on August 1 and 2, will be supporting the organisations as well as the Lullaby Trust and Cheshire Autism Practical Support.

“The bike and car show was an absolutely superb day considering what the weather was like to start with and the fact that it was our first event,” said Stephen.

“People who come to these shows like admiring the work people put in on their bikes and cars, which are their pride and joy.

“It’s nice to get feedback and appreciative comments from people for the work you have done, and people were gobsmacked at the number of people who turned up, including those who came along to have a look.

“Nostalgia is another reason people come to see these bikes and cars, and some of the ones on show were real showstoppers, such as a hot rod from Sandbach.”

Stephen’s passion is for restoring motorbikes, and he and Sue own 14, including a 1976 750 CB Honda and a Yamaha FS1E 50cc moped.

“We suggested the show to Jacky Beasant at the Slow and Easy because it’s our local and to offer a bit of support to the pub,” said Stephen.

“Jacky and her daughter Emma have done such a lot over the last few months, and are putting a lot of effort into the pub.”

Stephen is planning an autojumble at the Slow and Easy on May 24 from 9am, and for details email lambyxjr@yahoo.co.uk.
