WOLVES are extending their talent search as far the United Arab Emirates after taking New Zealand-born Abu Dhabi Harlequins prospect Iziq Foa’i on trial.
The 19-year-old prop, raised in Abu Dhabi, is spending two weeks training at Wolves’ Padgate base.
He was recommended to Warrington via former London Broncos youth development manager Phil Jones, now on the back room staff at The Halliwell Jones, by former clubmate Ben Bolger who is now with Abu Dhabi Harlequins.
“Iziq Foa’i will be training for two weeks while he is in the country looking at universities,” said Wolves’ head of youth, junior recruitment and development Ben Lazenby.
“Depending on how well this goes he may be brought back over the summer.
“We pride ourselves on our homegrown talent, although it’s always good to cast the talent net as wide as possible.”
Foa’i, who also plays at inside centre in rugby union and has spent time with Harlequins, Gloucester and Newcastle Falcons, is 6ft 2ins tall and weighs almost 19st.
