A NEW generation of entrepreneurs will help bring vibrancy to the high street in Northwich this summer.

The first Teenage Market for Northwich will take place on July 11 and provide a free platform for mid Cheshire youngsters to showcase their creative talents.

The market is the first of four events that will take place in the next 12 months in a partnership between Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) and the monthly artisan market run by The Market Co.

Denise Valente, from The Market Co, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local young people from the surrounding colleges and schools to show off their work and gain valuable experience in how to market and sell their creative products as well as provide a stage for performances.

"Running alongside July’s Artisan Market, the teenage offshoot will generate a thriving young retail and live performance momentum and buzz of its own, attracting a whole new generation of shoppers and visitors to the town and bringing the wider community together through a celebration of the town’s talented young people."

The Teenage Market is a growing nationwide initiative set up by teenage brothers Joe and Tom Barratt in Stockport as a way to support local young people and transform town centres.

Joe said: "The Teenage Market really is the key to identifying a new generation of market traders by making young people an active part of our town centres.

"We are delighted that Northwich is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.

"I’d encourage any creative young person to get involved with The Teenage Market as there are so many positive opportunities that can come out of it."

To get involved create a trader or performer profile on the Teenage Market website and apply to take part in the Northwich Teenage Market on July 11.
