WINWICK go in search of their first Rylands Cup success in three decades on Saturday.

They face Knowsley South in the final at the Grange, Latchford, kick off 2pm.

Manager Brian Cookson, whose son James plays in defence for Winwick, hopes his young side can end their trophy drought.

“We’ve played Knowsley twice already and lost,” said Cookson, also heavily involved in junior side Winwick Athletic. “Hopefully we can put that right – 29 years is a long time.

“We’ve got a young side with the likes of James, Tobias Robinson and Daniel Cunningham, but we’re different on paper to when we lost to Knowsley earlier in the season.”
