IT is lovely to hear there has been such a terrific response of donations to cover quarantine costs for the gorgeous ginger cat, Sinbad, after his long-distance travels from Egypt (Hereford Times, April 2).

I am sure his good luck will continue and he will land on his paws with many offers of loving homes to choose from, once his quarantine is over.

As co-ordinator of Hay Cat Rescue, I have rescued and rehomed many cats and cannot help but wonder if Sinbad would have been quite so lucky had he been a black or black and white cat, however friendly or handsome?

Or would he be, like the cats in our care, bored and dispirited, stuck in their pens for months and months, waiting for a kind soul to offer each of them a suitable, caring home away from main roads?
