MORE than 120 walkers and their canine companions enjoyed a stroll through the woods at a Northwich stately home on Sunday, April 19.

The three-mile Woodland Walk at Arley Hall was organised to raise money and awareness for the national charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

During the past eight years the walk has raised more than £30,000 for the charity.

This year the 122 walkers included 1st Hartford Manor Rainbows who walked with their soft toy dogs.

The event also saw the launch of the new puppy socialising scheme in Cheshire.

Lord Ashbrook, from Arley Hall, championed the importance of volunteering during his speech.

He said: “I whole-heartedly encourage dog-lovers to get involved with this project.

"Volunteering is not only good for the charity, but it benefits the individual in so many ways as well.”

Hearing Dogs is seeking local volunteers to care for and train a hearing dog puppy for up to 14 months.
