HE’S the pride of East Lancashire.

Fast bowler Jimmy Anderson has gone down in history as England’s leading test wicket-taker of all-time.

Even those who rarely glace at the game will know about the legendary status of Sir Ian Botham, so for Anderson to have surpassed that record and taken 384 wickets is a truly magnificent achievement.

Sheer hard work and determination, coupled with a natural ability which was clearly visible from a young age, have combined to make Anderson the best bowler of his era.

People who know Anderson say, off the pitch, he is a softly spoken man, but on it he has an unerring ability to unsettle opponents.

Born and bred in Burnley, Anderson learnt his trade on the East Lancashire cricket scene, his natural talent accompanied by pace as he moved into his mid-teenage years.

He is someone the whole county, and indeed the entire country, can be proud of, encompassing all that is great about Lancashire.

On his return from the West Indies, Anderson must be honoured for his achievement.

It’s within his reach to become the first bowler to take 400 wickets for England and we’re backing him to do just that.
