A RUNNER from Northwich is tackling three marathons in two months to raise money for two charities.

Alan Maddock, who works at Weaver Vale Housing Trust, will brave the Madrid Marathon on Saturday, April 26, the Sandstone Trail on May 9 and the Liverpool Marathon on June 14.

He hopes to raise as much money as he can for Northwich-based The Joshua Tree children's charity and the Teenagers and Young Adults Unit at The Christie in Manchester.

Alan said “Having run four marathons before – three London and one Chester – I just thought that three would be a big challenge which would help with the fundraising.

"I chose Madrid because I was turned down by London and looked for one around the same time, Liverpool because it is local, a great city and I thought that the support would be good, Sandstone Trail because its in between the two and is a big challenge in its own right. "I think the Sandstone Trail will be the toughest because of the distance, terrain and the amount of climb/hills over the 34 miles”
