SIX league games, six wins.

That’s what Tadcaster Albion boss Paul Marshall says is required if his side are to have a chance of lifting the Northern Counties East League premier division title.

Following a sticky month after their FA Vase exit, the Brewers have burst back into life as the season reaches its climax - a 2-1 win at Garforth supplemented by a thumping 5-0 success over Armthorpe Welfare at Ings Lane on Tuesday.

Calum Ward, George Bissett, Liam Ormsby and a brace from David Brown accounted for the goals in a performance Marshall feels has re-energised everyone at the club as they prepare for the run-in.

Fourth in the table, seven points behind leaders Worksop Town, he believes nothing less than winning all of their remaining games - starting at Albion Sports tomorrow - can give them a squeak of promotion to the Evo-Stik League.

And he is determined to give it a good go.

“We have had two good wins and the performances have been the pleasing thing,” Marshall said.

“We played really well against Garforth, which is always a tough place to go, and we could have had a few more against Armthorpe.

“We made a few changes to the style, the system and the personnel in the team - a few players haven’t been in the squad recently - and we seem to be a bit more settled as a club and as a group of players.

In the league, Shaw Lane just keep grinding the results out and they are the favourites.

“We have got to win all our games and put the pressure on other teams. With nine games left (including the league cup semi- final), we said we had to win them all and see where it takes us. We have won our first two.

“It will be a difficult game at Albion Sports. It always is and we have had some really close encounters. Early on this season, Liam Ormsby scored two late penalties and we won 2-1 so it will be a close game.”

Lewis Clarkson and Danny Stimpson, both of whom missed the Armthorpe victory, could return to the squad for the Albion clash.

Pickering, who moved up into tenth in the table after their 1-0 win over Retford on Easter Monday, are at Garforth Town. They will be without forward Sam Calvert, who is dual-registered with Whitby Town, after he broke an ankle in that Retford game.

In NCEL division one, Selby Town host Yorkshire Amateur and Knaresborough Town go to Pontefract Colleries.

Harrogate Town, who humbled the FA Trophy winners North Ferriby 4-1 on Monday, bid to double up at Oxford City. Harrogate Railway, meanwhile, entertain Radcliffe Borough in the Evo-Stik League first division north.

Scarborough Athletic travel to Northwich Victoria.
