STUDENTS at Sir John Deane’s College donned their favourite fancy dress to support a fellow student’s appeal to fund medical treatment for her mum.

The college’s annual uniform day was held in aid of the Mend Our Mum charity, which was set up by upper sixth form student Hannah Cliffe and her sister Terri.

Students raised more than £1,500 towards the £100,000 needed to pay for life-prolonging treatment for their mother, who is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.

Hannah Cliffe, a former Brine Leas High School pupil, from Audlem, near Nantwich, said: “We were amazed by the amount of support received from everyone at Sir John Deane’s, and it was great fun to come into college and to see so many people dressed up.

“We want to thank everyone who took part and donated their cash to help us hit our target.”

Hannah and Terri’s mum has a rare gall bladder cancer, and the drug she needs to accompany her chemotherapy is not funded by the NHS, and will cost £100,000 for a six-month treatment.
