MOULTON will have say in how a developer's money is spent in the village.

Officers from CheshireWest and Chester Council (CWAC) have been given approval to work with Moulton Parish Council on infrastructure improvements to run alongside the 148-house development by Bovis Homes.

Plans for the housing estate, at land off Beehive Lane, won final approval at CWAC's strategic planning committee meeting in March.

At the meeting Cllr Christine Bowie, from Moulton Parish Council, appealed for the developer's financial contributions, called a Section 106 contribution, to spent in the village rather than in the wider mid Cheshire area.

She said: "We would respectfully ask that funds allocated to highways, recreation, both children's and adults', education and public rights of way be ringfenced for use within Moulton."

She said that money could be used for a range of schemes, including increasing car parking in the village, updating the Main Road play area, introducing adult recreational space to Moulton, developing the Weaver Road play area, helping Moulton School and creating a heritage walk.

Cllr Helen Weltman, CWAC councillor for Moulton and Davenham, said: "I would like to see it spent in Moulton village rather than transferred to Moss Farm or Winsford."

CWAC officers said that the Section 106 agreement had been approved when outline plans won permission and money had been set aside for open play space, pitch provision and highways, including improvements in Main Road and the mini roundabout at its junction with Beehive Lane and Jack Lane.

hey said that this was not open to debate after being agreed at outline stage but agreed to consult with the parish council on any leftover funds.
