PRIZES are up for grabs for runners taking part in a popular Northwich fun run this month.

The ninth annual Joshua Tree Charity Fun Run takes place at Marbury Country Park at 10am on April 25.

Runners, walkers and joggers who book a place before Easter Sunday, April 5, will be in with a chance to win two family tickets to see the forthcoming production of The Cat in the Hat, based on the much loved book by Dr Seuss, at The Palace Theatre in Manchester.

The adult runner who raises the most money for the charity will win a slap-up meal for two at the Hayhurst Arms, in Bostock, while the junior runner who raises the most will win a host of toys and games, including a scooter.

Runners who raise more than £25 in sponsorship money will receive a commemorative Fun Run 2015 #digdeep T-shirt, wristband and goody bag.

This year's event is particularly important to The Joshua Tree as it pushes its #digdeep campaign to raise £250,000 to build a support centre in Sandiway to help children with life threatening illnesses and their families.

Lynda Hill, charity founder, said: "We've been very kindly donated these superb family tickets by our supporter Little Tigers and hope that this will encourage more runners to book early.

"This year we are planning lots more entertainment and activities for those who want to take part, giving the event a family festival feeling so that you can come along and have fun even if you don’t fancy the running."

The day includes a 5km race and 2.5km fun run.

Places cost £10 for the 5km race and £5 for the 2.5km fun run and under 7s run for free.

A family ticket for the 2.5km fun run costs £15. For more information or to sign up visit thejoshuatree.org.uk or call the charity office on 01606 331 858.

The family ticket for The Cat in the Hat at The Palace Theatre is for the performances on Tuesday, April 7.
