SOPHIE Ellis-Bextor is back! She is a tall chick with a cool voice and piercing eyes - and that amazing bone structure on her face! Wow!

She is not interested in compliments but will happily accept them.

"People do comment on my height, or my clothes and I suppose I have got used to that over the years," she says. "Sometimes I am just thinking about the music. My mind is elsewhere. Perhaps that is why I really listen to someone if I am chatting with them."

Recently Sophie has spent a lot of time with her son, Sonny, and the perfect man in her life, Richard Jones, a member of hot new faves The Feeling.

What a start for a musical family, eh? "Sonny gets to hear all kinds of music," said Sophie. We have a varied taste.

"Hopefully he will have the same appreciation as he gets older, and more vocal - in other words, when he starts to tell us if he likes 'our' music or not."

Her new single, Catch You, from her forthcoming album Trip The Light Fantastic is out on Monday.

I was lucky enough to watch a session by The Silencers the other night. They were magnificent.

Jinky and Jimmie O'Neil worked wonders on the mic as the rest of the boys looked like they were just having an amazing time.

As I witnessed this secret session I really felt as if I was experiencing something special.

My thoughts are with their guitarist, Cha Burns, who has been fighting lung cancer. There is strength and support from his bandmates - and, of course, the fans!

This week The Revelations release their debut single, If I Called You On The Telephone, on their own record label.

They are set to become the first unsigned pop act to hit the Top 40.

They told me they'll be waiting by the telephone to get the news, "You have done it...you are in the Top 40!"

I'll be keeping an eagle eye on the chart this weekend. I am planning to make that call with the good news!
