ALBION ROVERS boss Paul Martin has revealed how he thought his side had won the Scottish Cup when they "enjoyed" an open-top bus ride following their 2-1 second round win over Berwick at Shielfield Park.

Goals from Tommy Coyne and Ross Harris were enough to steer the Cliftonhill side into the third round but not enough to get them home safe and dry.

And Martin revealed; "It was almost surreal. On the way back from Berwick the main window on the bus blew in and it was like getting the open-topped bus ride home after winning the Scottish Cup - or as close as we will ever get to it!

"Given the weather conditions on Saturday it is a bus journey I will certainly never forget but the important thing is we are in the third round of the Scottish Cup and that was what we intended to achieve.

"I thought the boys showed great attitude to come back from the goal behind and the winner was good enough to win the Scottish Cup.

"Now we have the next round to look forward to and hopefully we get a decent draw that will give us a chance of making the fourth round where we can really make some money.

"With a bit of luck we can avoid the open-top bus journey after the next round because in November they aren't all they are cracked up to be!"

Meanwhile, Dumbarton negotiated a tricky second round tie with Highland League side Fraserburgh up North thanks to an Ian Chisholm header just before the hour mark.

And delighted Sons boss Jim Chapman said: "Potentially this was always going to be a tricky game for us and I am delighted we have managed to get through it without any mishaps.

"You know when you get a Highland League side up the road that they are never going to make life easy and our attitude was first class."
