MARK McCumber ended a five-year victory drought yesterday by running

away with the Anheuser-Busch Classic at Kingsmill Golf Club in

Williamsburg, Virginia.

McCumber, who earned $198,000 for the victory, fired a five-under-par

66 in winning here for the second time in his 16-year career. His

72-hole total of 17-under 267 put him three strokes ahead of rookie Glen

Day and five shots up on 1994 US collegiate champion Justin Leonard.

''This was the longest spell I've gone on tour without winning and for

the first time, I'd started wondering whether I'd ever get the chance to

win again,'' he said.
