CONSERVATIVE MP Teresa Gorman was fined #55 yesterday after admitting

speeding in a 30mph zone in Streatham, London, in May. Four other

charges -- driving without insurance, driving without a licence ,and

failing to produce insurance and a licence -- were dropped. PC Mike

Morgan told the magistrate at Camberwell Green, London, that the MP for

Billericay had given a satisfactory explanation for not producing the

documents.

She said in a letter that she was unable to produce the documents

because at that time they were in Portugal, but that she had gone to

Rochester Row police station to explain that she might need a new

driving licence. Mrs Gorman said later she was relieved the case was

over.
