ESTATE agents Cluttons are marketing Robertloan House, Main Street,
Loans near Troon. The house (left) was built in the early nineteenth
century, but stands on the site of previous houses -- one of which dates
back to 1314 after the Battle of Bannockburn.
After winning the battle Robert the Bruce gifted land in the area to a
loyal retainer -- hence Robertloan and the local village name of Loans.
A substantial Georgian house, Robertloan is a two-storey house built of
stone under a slate roof.
Accommodation includes four reception rooms, five bedrooms, bathroom
and shower room. Original features such as cornice work, mouldings,
fireplaces and hardwood doors have been retained. The property also
comes with garage, stables and stores. The agents are quoting offers
over #140,000 for Robertloan.
To the north of the house stands a walled garden which the agents say
has potential as a site for a house. It is for sale separately, or
together with the house, at offers over #35,000.
