LABOUR-controlled Edinburgh District Council has agreed in principle
to give free use of Meadowbank Sports Centre to the Scottish
Conservatives for their party conference next year. Councillor Lesley
Hinds said that although it could cost the council #30,000, the city
benefited from such conferences financially and in publicity terms. The
Labour Party in Scotland was given free use of Meadowbank for its
conference last March.
