A BRITISH girl whose life was saved in June by a rare double organ

transplant is doing so well that she will probably return home to

Manchester this week, officials said yesterday at the Children's

Hospital of Pittsburgh. Laura Davies, four, received a new liver and

small intestine in a 15-hour operation. The NHS had declined to finance

the costly procedure, which had never been performed in England. The

family organised an international fund-raising effort. Donors included

Saudi Arabia's King Fahd who gave #275,000.
