EUROPEAN Union antitrust regulators approved UPS's GBP55.5m takeover of parcel carrier Lynx Express yesterday, saying the deal posed no competition concerns in the European market. The acquisition significantly expands UPS's presence in the UK. Lynx, which is based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, and has parcel depots in Glasgow, Bothwell in Lanarkshire, Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness, had been majority-owned by private equity firm Bridgepoint Capital. Its main customers in Scotland include JJB Sports and computer giant Dell, and it employs around 3500 workers across the UK, with several hundred north of the border.
