For the second week in a row, Scotland go into the knock-out stages of the world outdoor championships in New Zealand with interest in all four quarter-finals, writes Anne Dunwoodie.

Darren Burnett finished in second position in his singles section after two victories yesterday while Lynn Stein skipped Joyce Dickey and Seona Black to a fourth place finish in the women's triples to join the men's fours and women's pairs.

Alex Marshall's love affair with Potters continued yesterday with the defending champion, who holds a record number of four wins in the event since the championships were first staged at the Norfolk venue 10 years ago, becoming the first player to move through to tomorrow's semi-finals.

In a replay of last year's final against local favourite Mervyn King, the champion in 2006, the Scot took the first set with a single on the last end and then with that scare behind him, cruised home in the second, putting the score out of reach with two ends to play to post a 6-5, 10-2 victory.
