JIMMY CALDERWOOD, the Aberdeen manager, has urged the Scottish Executive to invest in football facilities throughout the country.

Calderwood, who has received the Bank of Scotland manager-of-themonth award for February, has seen his preparations for the trip to Celtic disrupted by heavy snow. However, Calderwood believes the standard of facilities across the country lag behind other European nations.

"If you look at other countries, such as England and Holland, they have got it spot on when it comes to training facilities, " said the manager "I have been told Norway are investing in 50 indoor centres. Unfortunately, we don't have a clue. Training has been a nightmare for us this week and I think it will be the same for many other teams.

"Although I don't like to get involved in politics, the government have to try and fund this because the clubs won't be able to do it themselves."
