Bomb disposal experts were called out twice in the space of a few hours after mines became snagged in the nets of two fishing boats only a few miles apart. Coastguards instructed the crew of the Pittenweem-based Tamarlyn to drop her dangerous catch off the coast near St Monans, and the Navy detonated it. The crew of the Jan Reen sailed into Port Seton in the Forth estuary with their mine after it was discovered to be an unarmed training device.
