TARGET Practice consists of two exquisitely written monologues by Richard Hope on the theme of obsession.

In Dear Prudence a Northern English music hack treats the audience to a rant about the Beatles, fancying himself as the Beatle that never was and proclaiming Dear Prudence the song to have been about criticism as exact and prudent observation.

In the second monologue, Traffic, we meet an emotionally stunted Manchester estate agent who's into hard-core porn. His grim view of life and humanity throbs with violence and self-loathing that becomes more than uncomfortable when he becomes obsessed with a prostitute.

Actor Andrew Stanson commands the audience's attention with ease. When playing the journalist there is a slight tendency to slip into a grimacing caricature but as the estate agent he is sickenly believable. It is easy to forget he is alone on stage.
