NORTHWICH Police have described as “a significant find” the discovery of a major cannabis factory at a property in Marston.

A total of 90 cannabis plants were discovered by officers during the execution of a drugs warrant at the property.

The officers were from the Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU), and the warrant was executed at the premises at 9am last Wednesday, March 25.

Detectives are investigating the discovery of the plants, and no arrests have so far been made.

Northwich Police is asking any members of the public who have any information which is related to the discovery to contact them.

Inspector Paul Loughlin from Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “This was a significant find, and fortunately we have been able to put a stop to it.

"In total 90 cannabis plants were recovered from inside the premises.

“This is a great result, as we believe that these drugs could well have been destined for the streets of Northwich or further afield.”

The incident is being investigated by detectives from Northwich NPU, any anyone with information about the discovery is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 167 of 25/3/2015.

Inspector Loughlin added: “We know what negative impact illegal drug use and supply can have on the community, and it is an issue that we take extremely seriously. Members of the public can rest assured that our efforts in this area will continue.

“Information from members of the public is vital in the fight against drug-related crime. Drug use and supply is an issue of concern for the local community, and we continue to do all we can to put a stop to this sort of activity.

“Drug-related activity is not acceptable, and local officers will continue to react swiftly and positively to any information in relation to drug-related crime in the area.

“Members of the public are urged to report any suspicious activity in their area by contacting Cheshire Police on 101.”

A Cheshire Police spokesman said the road name of the property where the plants were discovered was not being released “at this point” because investigations were ongoing.
