CONCERNS have been raised about traffic in a developing area of Davenham.

Residents and parish councillors said the one-way system of Green Lane and London Road is a problem area in the light of a new housing estate built off the lane and more plans in the pipeline.

A resident speaking at the latest meeting of the parish council said: "At the entrance to The Oaks traffic coming out sweeps across the wrong side of the road to get into Green Lane.

"They're not coming to the junction on the left hand side and as soon as they see nothing is coming in Green Lane they whizz across to the wrong side of the road.

"In view of the 52 proposed houses there's going to be a lot more traffic going in and out of there."

The resident also said that a van had been spotted travelling the wrong way along Green Lane to get to London Road.

Parish councillor Keith Carter has also taken a number of photographs showing a heavy goods vehicle blocking the lane and forcing cars to mount the kerb to pass.
