WEAVER Vale Housing Trust is contacting people affected by a fire this morning to offer them emergency accommodation if needed.
Firefighters were called out at 10.47am to a roof fire at a block of flats in Barnton.
There was no-one in the two-storey Weaver Vale property in Blackcroft Avenue at the time of the fire.
Fire engines from Northwich and Winsford attended the blaze, and a hydraulic platform from Stockton Heath was used to access the roof and remove tiles.
“There were no people in the affected block of flats at the time, but Oakwood House was successfully evacuated by Weaver Vale staff and the single occupant in the adjacent block of flats left the building safely,” said a Weaver Vale spokesman.
“There have been no reported injuries, and we are in the process of contacting the affected customers to offer them support with emergency accommodation if required. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire involved a three-metre square area of the roof, and police closed Oakwood Lane while crews worked to extinguish the fire. Security fencing has been installed.
