TEENAGE focus groups will examine what they think of Northwich and its future potential as part of the work to put a neighbourhood plan together.

Groups of students from Sir John Deane's College and Mid Cheshire College will meet with representatives from the Northwich Neighbourhood Plan team to talk through a number of issues.

These include how the town should be developed, how access to Northwich could be improved, how walking and cycling routes can be developed, how the market can be made to flourish, what the character of the town is and the best use of the waterways and green open spaces.

The team is also keen to run the focus groups with the wider community.

Cllr Derek Bowden, a Northwich town councillor, said: "We're open to offers from other interested groups if they have an interest in Northwich and would wish to take part in this kind of discussion.

"That's what we're about – we want to talk to as many people as possible."

Surveys have been sent to residents, businesses and schools in the area and these are all available online.

So far the group has had more than 400 residents' surveys returned and more than 70 from schools.
