HELPERS are needed for a service that widens the horizons for housebound people in Cheshire.

The Royal Voluntary Service and Cheshire Libraries provide the Home Library Service, which delivers books, large print books and audio books to housebound older people free of charge.

They are looking for residents who can spare a little time on a regular basis to volunteer for the Home Library Service and would also like to hear from older people living in Cheshire who would like to access the scheme.

Gill Taylor, Royal Voluntary Service manager, said: “This is a fantastic service that makes a real difference to the lives of older people in Cheshire.

"A regular visit from one of our volunteers provides much-needed companionship and a vital link to the local community for those who are unable to get out as much as they’d like to.

"From our work with older people nationally, we know that services such as this have a great effect on the quality of life for both our clients and our volunteers.

"We have witnessed amazing friendships develop." For more information ring Gill Taylor on 07714 898678 or email gillian.taylor@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk
