BEER pong, coffee and cakes and UV partying are among a series of fundraisers planned at a Northwich town centre pub.

The Quayside, in Witton Street, has organised a number of events in aid of the Cheshire Down's Syndrome Support Group (CDSSG).

American phenomenon beer pong will take place at the pub from 7pm on Thursday, January 29.

This will see participants bouncing a ping pong ball on a table laden with 10 plastic cups, each a quarter full with beer.

If the ball lands in a cup, the thrower has to drink the beer.

Once all the cups are drunk, the winner moves on to the next round.

Liz Penn, assistant manager at the pub, said: "It gets people talking rather than sitting doing their own thing."

Admission to the competition is £2.

From 9am on the following day, Friday, January 30, the emphasis will be on coffee and cake with an all-day coffee morning.

Staff are baking for the event and the company that supplies its regular cakes is donating two trays of sweet treats for the event.

On Saturday, January 31, from 9pm to 2am, the pub will hold a UV party with lights donated by David Lee Events.

Glo sticks will be on sale and party-goers will be able to have their faces painted with UV paint for £1.

On Sunday, February 1, there will be a fundraising quiz night.

Admission is £1.

Collection buckets will be at the pub throughout all the events.

Liz said: "There's something for everyone, not just one genre of people.

"It's going to be good fun and we're hopefully going to raise a lot of money."
