DARYL Clark is confident he will be ready to hit the ground running come the start of the Super League season after being awarded an extended break.
The 2014 Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award winner began training at Wolves’ Padgate base on Monday after appearing for England in the Four Nations in October and November.
Warrington’s head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith handed the hooker some extra time off, but Clark says he is now cranking up the training.
“I’ve only been back in full training since Monday,” said the 21-year-old. “I’ve only done a couple of days – I’m feeling it already!
“I’m sure I’ve got a lot of work to do over the coming weeks. The start of the season’s only a few weeks away so a bit of hard work and I’ll be ready to start the season.
“Tony was pretty good and pretty lenient with time off. I ended up with about six weeks to get away, go on holiday and have a rest. So I’ve come back feeling pretty fresh.”
Clark is also set to move closer to the club after quickly deciding a daily commute from Castleford would prove too much.
“I’m moving over, we’re off to Tenerife next week but hopefully a week or two after that I’ll have something sorted,” he explained. “The M62’s a nightmare.
“The first three days it’s been taking me close to two hours so I’ve packed it in early and decided to get over.”
