THE heartbroken mother of a Winsford teenager has paid tribute to his friends following a fatal crash on Monday, December 15.

Louise Hughes has confirmed that her son Jack has died at North Staffordshire University Hospital and thanked his friends for their support.

"Jack's family would like to thank everybody for all of their kind words and support," she said.

"Jack would want everyone to be happy and smiling.

"He wouldn't want them to be sad and would want them to celebrate Christmas for him and go on to be happy."

Friends and family are gathering at Mersey View, in Frodsham, tonight at 8pm for a lantern vigil in memory of Jack.

He was taken to hospital after the crash, which happened on the A533, near its junction with Jack Lane, at 2.45pm on Monday.

Firefighters freed him from a blue VW Polo after it was in collision with a Scania articulated goods vehicle.
