A TEENAGER from Winsford is in 'critical condition' after a collision with a heavy goods vehicle on the A533 bypass.

Emergency services were called to the A533, between Northwich and Winsford, near to Jack Lane, at around 2.45pm on Monday, December 15.

Firefighters who attended the scene freed a man, 18, from a blue VW Polo, which had collided with a Scania articulated goods vehicle.

The driver of the Polo was transferred to North Staffordshire University Hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.

A number of people have turned to Facebook to pass on their best wishes for the young man and his family.

Sue Taylor Lee Ode said: “What a shame thought and prayers are with him and his family x.”

Alisha Whittaker said: “Was there when I saw it x hope rye all ok x thought and prayers with family x.”

Carol Bond added: “Seriously beginning to hate this road. .my prayers go out to all.x.”

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle, a 60-year-old man from Liverpool, did not require hospital treatment.

Cheshire police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information in relation to the collision is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 514 of 15/12/2014.
