A BEAUTIFUL tree of lights is shining in memory of Northwich's loved ones who have been lost.

The holly tree in Witton Cemetery has been decorated with lights and stars, which were lit during a ceremony of music, prayer and remembrance.

Mereside Brass Band played a selection of popular Christmas carols as people gathered for the event, with soloist Rebecca Holland performing Silent Night.

This was followed by town mayor Clr Alison Gerrard, the Rev Alison Harris and Father Paul Standish reading the names of those who had been placed on the tree, along with a short prayer.

Following the ceremony a service was held in St Helen’s Church providing light refreshments for all with performances from Little Owls Pre School, the Brownies and further performances by Mereside Brass Band and Rebecca Holland.

Stephanie Astbury, from Northwich Town Council, said: "The Tree of Lights event hosted by Northwich Town Council continues to be a success and improves year on year, this would not be the case without the support of our sponsors, St Helen’s Church and of course, the public who continue to attend and inspire us to continue."
