MUSICIANS of every type imaginable are being urged to come together and create a new harmony in Cheshire.

Ben Macfie, from Middlewich, and Project 9 Studios, in Northwich, are organising a get-together for musicians of all styles and ages to embark on a new project and create a first class music scene in the county.

Ben, whose idea was prompted by a Facebook page for Cheshire musicians, said: "It's all free and we just want to get people involved – it's to inspire people and bring them together."

The first meeting is an informal get-together at The Bulls Head pub, in Davenham, on Sunday, December 7.

Following this the idea is to play and songwrite as a group before recording a CD at Project 9.

Ben said: "The idea is to promote the scene and show people there are things out there that they don't realise.

"I put the idea out there on Facebook and there was a lot of interest so thought this could go further.

"We want as many people as we can from all different styles of music, all ages and skill levels, then we can put it out to the community and say 'look what we've done – we've got together all different ages and genres and we've created this', which will hopefully inspire more people to get together and do other projects.

"Hopefully it'll be a springboard and we can do it more often.

"There is a music community there but it needs a bit of life putting into it."

Ben said this could prove perfect for people hoping to join a band or meet other musicians but who did not know how to go about it.

"Maybe people don't know where to go, who to speak to or what it's all about so this is a way of bringing them in and meeting other people," he said.

"When I first started out and was looking for a band I was a bit frightened but this is a way of introducing it so it's not daunting to come along.

"We've got a few ideas about the project but this is the first time we've done it so we want people to bring their own enthusiasm and ideas."

Sunday's meeting starts at 8pm.
