VILLAGERS are being urged to put pen to paper in the fight against more houses in Davenham.

More than 30 residents packed into the November meeting of Davenham Parish Council after Bloor Homes submitted plans for 52 homes on land at Green Lane.

It also emerged at the meeting that Bellway Homes and Richborough Estates, whose plans for Jack Lane and Fountain Lane were refused in October, have appealed against Cheshire West and Chester Council's decision.

One resident said: "It's not the village I was born and brought up in.

"I feel for the people who live in Davenham now and have got to live here for the next 50years with the traffic woes and the houses they're putting up.

"There's nothing here, no community hall, nothing for the Cubs and Scouts."

Clr Arthur Wood, from Davenham Parish Council, said the key was to object as much as possible.

"The first point is to comment on this application and the more people that write in, and write their own letter because a petition only counts as one, the better," he said.

"That's the first line of defence.

"We will be writing on behalf of the parish council, copying in local councillors and circulating our objections to the whole of the planning committee, it's no use just sending it to the officer."

He said that objectors should also comment on planning applications that go through to appeal.

"Anyone who's written or objected to the planning application has the right to send their views to the planning inspector and can go to the hearing and speak in person."

He added: "If you play your part it gives us the best chance of seeing it through.

"Hopefully we can see it off at the planning committee meeting.

"It makes a lot of difference if they get a lot of letters and if the councillors get a lot of letters.

"We can only do our best and must do our best."
