SINGLE mum Jennifer Harradine is inviting fellow mums to get baking for a charity close to her heart.

The 23-year-old student is organising a cake sale at Rudheath Social Club to raise money for Epilepsy Awareness.

Jennifer’s two-year-old daughter Phoebee-Minnie was diagnosed with the condition in June, a month after her second birthday, and has been put on medication.

Jennifer, who is taking a beauty course at Mid Cheshire College, is putting on the fundraiser to raise awareness of epilepsy and to find out if there are other local parents facing the same challenges as her.

The fundraiser takes place at the social club tomorrow, Saturday, November 22, and runs from 12.30pm to about 3.30pm.

Jennifer, her family and friends are making cakes for the event, which will also feature tea and coffee and a raffle.

She is hoping to raise as much money as she can, and is inviting people to make cakes for the sale or just to come along.

“My daughter had her first fit when she was 10 months old,” said Jennifer, from Greenall Road, Northwich.

“Her eyes were rolling and she was jerking – it was horrible, one of the worst things I had experienced.

“I was told by the doctors it was a febrile convulsion caused by a virus, and she did not have another seizure until she was one and a half.

“She has since had tests, and I was told in July that she had epilepsy. She has ‘absences’ and mini-seizures every few days, and I do worry about her, although she is such a happy little girl and always has a smile on her face.

“It would be amazing to raise as much money as I could at the social club, and I have made posters to put up around town to publicise the event.”

Jennifer died the ends of her hair purple to support Epilepsy Awareness Month, and is hoping to raise £100 from the cake sale.

“I felt the sale would be a good way to raise awareness of epilepsy and to help people who have the condition,” she said.
