FESTIVE gifts will be on offer next Friday at a charity shopping event being held in memory of mother of three Sarah Bowers.

Sarah, from Winsford, died in September after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

In the last few months of her life she was cared for by St Luke’s Hospice, which is to benefit from the Christmas shopping night on November 28.

The event is being organised by Amiee Jones from Winsford, who was a very close friend of Sarah.

The festive fundraiser takes place at The Winsford Academy, and will feature 15 local businesses, including a beauty salon, an interior design company and a cake company.

The evening will also offer Christmas decorations, jewellery and hand-made gifts, and there will be scarves and children’s pyjamas from Amiee’s fledgling accessories store business, Poppy’s Treasure Chest.

Each of the businesses which have signed up for the charity night have paid £10 for a stall, and Amiee is also running a raffle, to which local businesses have donated prizes.

“Sarah had three little girls, and was a very close friend of mine,” said Amiee, 25.

“She never gave up after being diagnosed with breast cancer, and her death has left a big gap in everyone’s life.

“She was very supportive when I told her I was setting up a business, and for me, when it reaches the end of the evening on Friday, it will be quite emotional when I think about who the event is in memory of.”

Amiee worked for Barclays at Gadbrook Park, and started her accessories business in March.

She took part in a tandem skydive a year ago, and raised just over £1,000 for cancer research in the process.

“I am really hoping that we could raise £300 from the Christmas shopping night, which would be amazing,” she said.

The fundraiser is being supported by Amiee’s friends and family, and she is hoping local people will come along to help her raise as much as possible for the hospice.

The fundraiser runs from 7pm to 9.30pm, entry is free, and payment on the night will be cash only.
